Glimakra has been building beautiful, long lasting looms for many years; their skilled handcraftsmen work at a factory in a small village in the forests of Sweden. WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED WITH A GLIMAKRA FLOOR LOOM:
  • yarn
  • 2 or more boat or other shuttles
  • 12 or more bobbins for boat shuttles
  • reed hook and heddle hook
  • warping board or mill and raddle (or sectional warp beam, tension box with counter and bobbin rack)
  • Nice to have items - in ranked order:
    1. bobbin winder;
    2. a variety of shuttles, extra reeds, swift and ballwinder if your yarn comes in skeins, fringe twister, temple;
    3. yarn balance, magnifier, Ott light, auto reed hook or more harnesses.

GLIMAKRA STANDARD (COUNTERMARCH 4, 8, 10 or 12-HARNESS)

Available in 3 sizes, from 48" to 64", this beautiful solid loom has the traditional Scandinavian design with overhead beater. The countermarche action makes it a pleasure to weave on. This versatile loom can grow with the weaver: there are optional attachments such as a sectional warp beam, double warp beam (special order), and fly shuttle beater (special order). 4-harness models come with 6 treadles; 8-harness with 10 treadles, 10-harness with 10 treadles and 12-harness with 12 treadles. Price includes an adjustable bench, stainless steel reed of your choice (5, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15-dent; 12-dent if not specified), 1000 polyester heddles, lease sticks, shaft holders, 48 warp sticks, video "Dress Your Loom the Swedish Way", book "Tying up the Countermarch Loom" (with countermarch looms) and instructions. If you prefer counterbalance tie-up, deduct $150 from price. Shuttles are extra. You get FREE freight from The Woolery.

A smaller version of the Standard, the Ideal is available in 28" and 40" (147 lbs.) weaving widths and includes an adjustable bench, stainless steel reed of your choice (5, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15-dent; 12-dent if unspecified), 1000 polyester heddles, 24 warp sticks, lease sticks, shaft holders, DVD "Dress Your Loom the Swedish Way", book "Tying up the Countermarch Loom" (with countermarch looms) and assembly instructions. 4-harness models come with 6 treadles; 8-harness with 8 treadles and 10-harness with 10.
