About Us

The Woolery was started in 1981 by Marianne Horchler in Genoa, NY. In 2001, Marianne and her husband Tim moved The Woolery to Murfreesboro, North Carolina to get a break from the harsh winters in upstate NY. In 2009, Tim and Marianne decided it was time to scale back a little and brought in Chris and Nancy Miller to take on the day to day operation and The Woolery was moved to historic Frankfort, Kentucky.

Chris and Nancy bring years of business experience (as well as a passion for spinning weaving and knitting) to The Woolery. They absolutely love fiber arts and love the people involved; the people mean the most to them. They have been married for 25 years and have two sons, two grandbabies and a character named Christian who thinks he is human but is really a “Snoodle”.

Tim and Marianne will still be around over the next few years in an advisory capacity. They will be available to answer questions and help smooth the transition. We know that with the Horchlers’ vast knowledge and experience in fiber arts and the Millers' extensive background in business, we can merge the best of both worlds to provide a fiber arts supply company that surpasses all expectations and provides world class service at affordable prices.

We are very excited to relocate the business to an area that is much more accessible to the public. With our new facilities, we plan to offer the same excellent service to our customers throughout the United States and world. We plan to expand our retail operations and offer classes, training and an outlet for fiber artists to showcase and sell their work. Historic downtown Frankfort is a wonderful place to visit; small enough to be small town friendly, yet big enough to offer travelers the amenities that they expect. The vast array of architectural styles, famous land marks, museums of Kentucky's past and unique shopping make Frankfort a special place to visit. For more information on Frankfort, you can click on the different links at the bottom of the page.

If you are one of our longtime customers, we appreciate your business and patronage. If your a new customer, thank you for the opportunity to earn your business. We appreciate all of you and look forward to serving your fiber art needs for many years to come!

Nancy, Chris, Marianne & Tim
